Commerce

The second tier of the imar branch; its prerequisite is Scholarship — you cannot queue it without knowing that node.

What it unlocks

It unlocks Caravanserai and Almshouse: one adds to the income of a Caravan road node, the other raises the population cap. Both feed the economy of a growing city.

When to research it

The Caravanserai's effect depends on whether your region holds a Caravan road node (Caravanserai); before finishing iktisat, decide which building goes in which city by looking at your region map. It is also required to move further down the branch — Endowment lists this node as a prerequisite.
