Terrain
Forest
Forest is the only defensive terrain in the game.
- Entering costs 2 move points — you will be a target for a turn.
- A defending unit's defense power is scaled by the multiplier (Combat).
- Cities can be founded here.
Because forest is both passable and settleable it carries the map's upper layers as well: resource nodes, Ruins, Bandit camp and Neutral village all appear in forest — though one hex carries only one of them. The terrain multiplier applies to the unit standing on the tile; it does not add to the defense of a village sitting in a forest (Combat).
Forest works in the economy too: every forest tile in a city's region enlarges the Workshop's location share.
The multiplier stacks on top of type advantage: a Spearman in a forest gets both the terrain and the type multiplier against an incoming Raider. If the unit is fortified, a third multiplier stacks on top (Combat).
The numbers on this page are read from the game’s balance tables.
