Hospital
A Hospital grows the per-turn recovery of units inside the region of the city it is built in.
Its effects
- Units in the region heal +1 per turn
- Units in the region recover +1 morale per turn
The contribution comes from the city that owns the tile the unit stands on — a Hospital heals its own region, not the empire at large. For a wounded unit standing in its region, it adds
1to the in-region per-turn HP regeneration (The turn cycle); it also adds
1to morale recovery (Morale and rout). If an unrouted Standard-bearer is adjacent, the two sources add up.
What it's for
A Hospital gives nothing to a unit outside its region — healing an army on campaign is the Physician's job. It pays off when built in a border city that fights often; its effect is limited in an interior city, because a wounded unit rarely stands there in the first place.
When to build it
The opposing AI builds the Hospital once its city quota is full (The AI opponent), and unlike some other buildings it does not check proximity to an enemy while doing so — a border city is exactly this building's target audience. Follow the same logic in your own play: build it in a city where fights happen often, and give the slot to a different building in the interior.
