Buildings
Bedesten
The Bedesten lowers the region's tile purchase price in the city it stands in.
Its effects
- Tile purchase cost −3 gold
The price of buying a tile adjacent to the region with gold rises with the city's own purchase history — base plus step × the number of tiles already bought (Territory and score). The Bedesten subtracts a flat amount from that price; the base and the step stay the same, and the price never drops below zero.
What it's for
Because the price rises with the city's own history, the Bedesten is most useful in a city that buys tiles repeatedly: you stay under the rising curve. In a city that has never bought a tile, its contribution amounts to nothing more than cheapening the first tile a little.
When to build it
- In a city you plan to keep expanding with gold — especially once your city quota (6) fills up, since buying tiles is one of the few ways left to grow territory besides founding a new city.
- In a city that is already growing through its population threshold, or one you have no plan to expand, spend the slot on another building instead.
The opposing AI builds the Bedesten once its city quota is full and no enemy is near; the weight multiplier that kicks in once the quota is full is higher than the other four imar buildings'. The Divan follows a different pattern (Divan): it is already a candidate before the quota fills (The AI opponent).
